Featured Projects

Examples of products we’ve supported from early concept through to production-ready design.
img

A fully engineered and manufactured range of small-diameter forged three-piece wheels developed from concept to production, including industrial design, engineering, prototyping, supplier coordination, launch support and production manufacture and assembly.

img

Design and development of components for the high-performance dual-clutch transmission used in the McLaren Artura, involving an extremely complex assembly engineered to meet the stringent precision, durability, and quality requirements of automotive series production.

img

We partnered with ELÄA to reimagine a traditional Middle Eastern stylus, engineering all internal mechanics, the user interface, and an ingenious “floating” display base for a serialised, high-value collectable pen.

img

We developed a prototype concept into a full volume production. The main challenge was the complex overmoulded design. The product needed to be stiff in some areas, whilst being soft for chewing in others.

img

Designed and engineered a compact, professional-grade swivel mount that provides smooth, secure camera positioning for dynamic filming, from a simple consumer accessory to a reliable tool.

Partnered with a client to modernize the UK's aging electrical infrastructure by designing the mechanical systems that enable their remote actuators to be retrofitted onto 1960s-era switchgear, drastically reducing outage times.

Common Questions
About Our Services

What does Core Mechanical Design do?

We provide end-to-end product design and engineering services, supporting projects from early concept through detailed design, prototyping, and production.

What types of clients do you work with?

We work with startups, SMEs, and established manufacturers across a range of sectors, including consumer products, industrial equipment, and automotive.

Can you support a project from concept to production?

Yes. We regularly support full product development programmes, including concept work, engineering, prototyping, production design, supplier coordination, and handover to manufacture.

Do you only work on mechanical design?

No. Our work is multi-disciplinary, combining mechanical, electrical, and industrial design with hands-on experience in manufacturing and production delivery.

Can you join a project that’s already underway?

Yes. We often support projects at later stages, whether that’s resolving technical issues, preparing a design for manufacture, or supporting production readiness.

Do you offer prototyping and testing?

Yes. We design and manage prototype builds and testing to validate form, fit, function, and performance before committing to production.

How do you approach design for manufacture?

Manufacturing considerations are built into our process from the start, ensuring designs are practical, cost-effective, and suitable for scalable production.

Do you work directly with manufacturers and suppliers?

Yes. We regularly work with suppliers and manufacturers to support quoting, resolve technical issues, and ensure designs are delivered as intended.

How are projects typically structured?

Projects can be delivered as fixed-scope packages or on a flexible time-based basis, depending on the stage, risk, and level of definition required.

Is there an initial consultation?

Yes. We offer a free initial discussion to understand your project, requirements, and determine the best way to move forward.

Where are you based and do you work remotely?

We are UK-based and work with clients both locally and internationally, collaborating remotely or on-site where required.

How do we get started?

Get in touch to arrange an initial project discussion, and we’ll talk through your requirements, timelines, and next steps.
